Since 2014, the Association for the Promotion of Science has honored researching companies for their special responsibility that they assume for the state and society, with the "Innovative through Research" seal. The Association for the Promotion of Science is one of the largest private science sponsors in Germany. In addition to his commitment to young academics, excellent universities and top research, it is also his task to examine and evaluate the German research and innovation system. The Federal Government uses this survey as a basis for decisions on the design of innovation and technology policy in Germany. The Association for the Promotion of Science awards companies that show a special commitment to research and development with the seal “Innovative through research”. The Association for the Promotion of Science awards the "Innovative through Research" seal to all research companies that take part in the bi-annual full survey on research and development in Germany's economy.
Participation in the survey is crucial for
• the recording of research and development activities of companies in Germany,
• the comparative classification and assessment of R&D activities from individual industries and regions to the entire economy as well
• Developing recommendations to politicians for future funding impulses in the area of research and development (R&D).
